Eaton wanted a beautiful and highly functional new website for their line of home IOT products that were largely aimed at the Swiss market. Their current website hadnt been updated since the early 2000’s and so was lacking in current thought processes, the benefits of new coding systems etc.
User journeys for this were drawn up to allow for a gradual relaying of information. Eaton has thousands of products and as IOT is still fairly new to the larger market, we wanted to educate and sell products in a way that wasnt overwhelming.
The navigation is broken down into complete simplicity, allowing for the key brand focuses to be displayed, with products in each category – Lifestyle, Peace of Mind, Energy Saving. From these categories, as the user progresses, more and more information is shared as the user familiarises themselves with xComfort.
PRODUCT VISUAL DESIGN
Exquisite imagery sets the basis for the story the website is telling. The home screen adds interactivity with summer and winter options, and allows for an easier filtering and compartmentalising of products. A grid system is adopted for the second level navigation items allowing for ease in responsive design, but also a clean visual display of a large amount of articles and information. Two design styles, following the summer and winter themes, are used to break up repetition and keep the user engaged. For the map, simple colour keys are shown to allow the user to easily find exactly what they’re after in an intuitive way, with advanced search options to narrow this down if needed.
